Salah Al Bander (BSc, MPhil, PhD) worked as lobbyist, policy analyst, and as a consultant on national security and development for 17 years. Before his current position he was Director of Sudan Civic Foundation (1996-2002), a research associate on Islamism and political change at Cambridge University for 8 years, and as a staff member in other higher education institutions. During the last 20 years he was closely involved in different capacities with national, regional and international NGOs working on group rights, conflict resolution, and development.

 

A writer on political affairs and a social activist, he has contributed to TV, radio, press and lectured extensively about many aspects of political Islam, community empowerment, and race relations. His current research focus deal with the triangle of group rights, democratic change and national security.

 

His degrees are from Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, Cambridge University; and School of Science and Engineering, University of Essex  at the United Kingdom.
